The Star Wars saga has been around for a few decades now and it had its fair share of adaptations when it comes to video games. Most of them, however, have tried to depict the series exactly as it was portrayed in the movies, which can be rather difficult to achieve without a very powerful graphic engine to render the environments. LEGO Star Wars chose not to concern itself with realism and drama, by taking some of the most memorable events from the movies and transposing them into the entertaining world of lego blocks. Thus, everyone can enjoy a tour of the galaxy and have fun while doings so, as well as defeat the evil forces of the dark side in the process.
The amount of changes I was shown to the year-old Lego video game formula was startling. I checked out the game as E3 was winding down on Thursday, taking a front row seat for a look at a game that I expected to come off as a rehash of some of the four previous Lego Star Wars games. After all, three of them have collectively covered seven of the main Star Wars movies, and nine movies are depicted in this new game. The standout change is the camera angle. We were only shown the open-world portion of the game, but even there the change is pronounced. The camera is controlled freely with the analog stick.
